Gareth Browning

Position:

Head of Challenges

Member of:

Gareth is responsible for the Leadership and Implementation of the CCR Challenge Fund. An exciting new City Deal Programme launched in October 2020 which demonstrates how applying innovation to societal challenges can build local wealth for the region. Challenges span a wide range of areas, such as, decarbonising vehicles, buildings and infrastructure, innovation in health and care, and new ways of supporting our citizens and communities through the design, delivery and scaling of challenges or mission-driven approaches.

He holds graduate qualifications in Business Management and Leadership with over 20 years’ experience working at strategic and operational management levels in the areas of Innovation, Entrepreneurship, R&D and Business Development.

He was previously the driving force behind high profile Public Sector Challenge-led Initiatives across the UK resulting in large scale collaborations between public sector organisations and businesses.

As someone born in Cardiff and now living in Porthcawl, he joined the CCR team in June 2020, committed to creating opportunities for the region to prosper, and challenging conventional thinking and ‘usual’ ways of working, enabling and encouraging people to consider ‘the art of the possible’.

Away from the office, he enjoys a round of golf, running and house renovation projects.
