Kellie Beirne is Director of CCR City Deal and also a member of UKRI’s Research England Council as well as a member of the Science and Innovation Advisory Council for Wales. Kellie is a mum to two daughters, a proud Newportian and is passionate about supporting young people to realise their potential – particularly those young people for whom circumstances are challenging. Kellie studied both her undergraduate and Masters at Cardiff University and has worked extensively across public, private and community sectors both in CCR and further afield.

Kellie is an advocate for entrepreneurship public space and the role of public services in mobilising responses to the big challenges of our time and how this can drive more inclusive and ‘for all’ economic prosperity. Kellie is heavily involved in the Science, Research and Innovation agendas and the opportunities for innovation-led growth that will be as important to local and foundational economies as to the trading economy.
