The Enterprise Zone is split over two sites both with runways operated by Cardiff Airport to Civilian Aviation Authority some 5 miles apart or 11 minutes by road. Cardiff Airport is a thriving international airport whilst Bro Tathan focuses on the maintenance repair and overhaul of a wide range of aircraft.
The two linked sites comprise of:
- 77 hectares of land is allocated adjacent to Cardiff Airport and Port Road, Rhoose
- 305 Hectares allocated at Bro Tathan
The sites are allocated for strategic employment purposes (planning use class B1, B2 and B8) and are in the ownership of Welsh Government (Bro Tathan), Vale of Glamorgan Council (airport north of Port Road) and Legal and General (south of Port Road).
A Masterplan has been prepared for each of these significant assets complete with supporting Supplementary Planning Guidance.
The Bro Tathan site has been the subject of several further planning applications for development over its 1200 acres. These range from hotels, showrooms retail facilities, offices and conferencing, to major mixed use large factories, aircraft hangars and training facilities.
