The CCR City Deal has established and manages a Wider Investment Fund (WIF) for the Cardiff Capital Region. The role of the city deal is to build more resilient, clean growth-driven industries of the future, encouraging evergreen inclusive growth investments from which generations to come can still reap the benefits.
OurInvestment and Intervention Framework provides businesses with the opportunity to present their investment proposals to our designated panel. The Framework focuses around the region’s priority intervention points of Innovation, Infrastructure and Challenge, responding to the big industrial and societal challenges of today and tomorrow.
The Three Priority Funds
- Innovation Priority
The Innovation Investment Fund looks at proposals demonstrating unique intellectual property, market leadership and competitive strength. It will support propositions in targeted growth sectors that have the greatest potential for direct economic return on investment through job creation and GVA increase.
- Infrastructure Priority
The Infrastructure Priority focuses on targeted co-investment and pooling of resources to deliver maximum impact through the delivery of new physical and digital infrastructure projects including roads, public transport, broadband, skills, sites or testbeds. Whilst such public sector-led infrastructure projects require more outlay, they are necessary to attract and enable investment in the region.
- Challenge Priority
The Challenge Fund seeks to stimulate the adoption of new products and solutions in South East Wales. It will look at growing new markets and welcomes proposals that emerge from competitive spaces where more than one organisation or individual might be equipped to deliver, in order to offer more flexibility and scope for experimentation.
