King Site Services is one of those businesses. A family-run engineering company established in 1985, the business delivers structural and secondary steelwork, mechanical installation, fabrication, temporary works and project management from its facilities in Hirwaun and Port Talbot.
As the company looks towards further growth in sectors including construction, offshore wind, advanced manufacturing and major infrastructure, we spoke to the team about their ambitions for the future, the projects they are currently delivering and the value they have found through being part of the CCR Invest Partnership Programme.
What does King Site Services do?
King Site Services provide structural and secondary steelwork, mechanical installation, temporary works, fabrication, CNC profiling, project management and site installation.
One of our main strengths is that we can support a project from the early planning and design stages, through fabrication and quality control, right through to installation and completion on site. This gives our clients one experienced team managing the full process and helps reduce the risks that can come from using multiple suppliers.
We primarily work across the construction, energy and industrial sectors, with the facilities, accreditations and experienced workforce required to deliver complex engineering projects safely and efficiently.

How do you see your company growing in South East Wales?
Our focus is on investing in and expanding our facilities within South East Wales, this
will include new equipment and strengthening our workforce. We want to create more
skilled jobs, develop the next generation through apprenticeships and provide long-
term opportunities for people within the region.
We intend to grow our structural steelwork division and increase our involvement in
construction, offshore wind, advanced manufacturing and major infrastructure
projects.
Why does the Invest partnership programme matter to your business?
The partnership programme gives businesses like ours a platform to promote our services and helps us connect with people and organisations that we may not otherwise have the opportunity to meet.
As we continue to diversify into new sectors CCR’s assistance in helping us build new relationships with major contractors, developers, investors and public-sector organisations is an extremely valuable part of the partnership.
The partnership programme allows us to be part of a wider regional message. There is a huge amount of engineering, manufacturing and construction capability across South East Wales, and the partnership programme helps demonstrate that local businesses have the skills, facilities and experience to support major investment projects.
What projects are you working on at the moment that you can share?
We are close to completion on a commercial project to the West of Cardiff that saw us add a new steel mezzanine level to an existing factory.
A 30 tonne temporary works steel package for a well known engineering / demolition client based in Llantrisant.
A £4M structural steelwork project at an industrial site in Port Talbot.
A 60 tonne structural steel project for light-industrial units North of Cardiff.
30 tonne structural steelwork project for a leisure facility North of Newport.
Has the partnership programme given you an opportunity to make new connections?
Yes, the programme has helped us make new connections and strengthen relationships with businesses and organisations across the region.
The introductions and events have given us the opportunity to meet potential clients, delivery partners, major contractors and other Welsh businesses with complementary capabilities.
What flagship events have you joined us at, and what was your experience?
We attended UKREiiF with the Cardiff Capital Region, which was a really valuable event for us. It gave us the opportunity to raise awareness, meet potential clients and partners, and gain a better understanding of future investment and development opportunities across the region.
Attending as part of the wider Cardiff Capital Region presence was a real benefit. It gave us a stronger platform, helped showcase the capability available across South East Wales and led to some really positive conversations that we are continuing to develop.
What does the next year look like for your business?
The next year will be focused on controlled and sustainable growth. Our main priorities are growing our structural steelwork division, developing opportunities within construction and offshore wind, strengthening relationships with major contractors and creating more skilled jobs in South Wales.
We also want to continue moving into projects where we can provide a more complete service, combining engineering, fabrication, project management and installation rather than only delivering one part of the package. There are a lot of opportunities coming into Wales over the next few years, and our aim is to make sure that we are well positioned to support them.
King Site Services’ story reflects the strength of the engineering, manufacturing and construction capabilities that exist across South East Wales. As the business continues to invest in its workforce and facilities, develop new opportunities and create skilled jobs, its ambitions are closely aligned with the wider opportunities emerging across the region.
