Supporting people-led growth with Fast Growth 50

Hot on the heels of celebrating Global Entrepreneurship Week, Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) is continuing to show its support for start-ups, innovators, and entrepreneurs.

CCR is sponsoring the People-Led Growth Award at the Fast Growth 50 Wales Awards, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, on Thursday 30 November at the Utilita Arena, Cardiff.

What is the Fast Growth 50?

The UK Fast Growth 50 Index is an initiative that has been running in Wales for 25 years and is now expanding across the UK in partnership with UBS Wealth Management.

The national Fast Growth 50 publishes a detailed list of the fast-growing firms in seven nations and regions of the UK: the East of England, London, the Midlands, North of England, Scotland, South of England, and Wales.

The Fast Growth 50 event in Cardiff is dedicated to celebrating the achievements of the fastest growing businesses in Wales. The event reveals where businesses have placed on this year’s index and recognises businesses with awards in sector-based categories.

How does CCR support fast growing businesses in the region?

Sponsoring the People Led Growth Award gives CCR the opportunity to continue promoting good sustainable growth, something we have championed through our funds and projects throughout the region, and celebrate the talented, innovative teams behind successful businesses in Wales.

CCR is fully committed to creating the right environment for start-ups, innovators, entrepreneurs and growing businesses to thrive across the ten local authorities that make up the region.

  • Scaling up: CCR’s Strategic Premises Fund provides early-stage development finance to unlock employment space, allowing new and existing businesses to scale up, grow and invest more in our region.
  • Stimulating growth: CCR’s Innovation Investment Capital fund supports SMEs with loans of £2m-£7m, providing long-term capital for high potential small and medium sized businesses in the region and stimulating growth.
  • Sustainable growth: CCR’s Unleash programme includes events such as the Unleash conference and Regionally Unleashed breakfasts to drive ideas, promote sustainable growth and inspire businesses and entrepreneurs to be competitive, connected and resilient.

Why CCR is proud to support people-led growth

Anthony Hunt, leader of Torfaen County Borough Council and chair of CCR’s Regional Cabinet, said:
Cllr Anthony Hunt

“We congratulate the Fast Growth 50 team on their 25th anniversary. It’s been an exhilarating journey mapping and celebrating the growth trajectories of some of the UK’s brightest and most exciting start-ups and SMEs. The entrepreneurial spirit that is on display at this award ceremony is vital to our future wellbeing, so congratulations from everyone at Cardiff Capital Region.”
