The Foundry – Status Update

Status Update as at March 2021

The new compound semi-conductor foundry in Newport is going well and as previously reported the facility is now in production and out-performing our expectations in terms of both volume and quality.

Some of the benefits realised to date include:

  • The creation of 110 new high-value jobs – 95% of which are in the CCR, and the safeguarding of 546 existing jobs.
  • New investments such as the £50M invested in CSA Catapult (70 jobs) which is co-located in Foundry.
