Principal Planner (Strategic Development)

Vacancy – 2 x 37 hours per week

Salary: £45,091 – £48,226

About the Role:

This is a rare opportunity to work at the forefront of regional planning in Wales. As Principal Planner, you will lead complex and high-profile elements of the Strategic Development Plan, helping to shape the long-term spatial vision for the Cardiff Capital Region. You will take ownership of major policy workstreams, manage technical evidence, and help deliver integrated solutions to some of the region’s biggest challenges — including housing growth, transport integration, climate resilience, infrastructure delivery, economic development, and sustainable placemaking.

You will work closely with senior officers, elected members, Welsh Government, Transport for Wales, local authorities, consultants, and key regional stakeholders to help deliver a robust and ambitious regional strategy.

The role offers significant professional autonomy and the opportunity to influence strategic decision-making at the highest level.

Energy & Carbon Management Apprentice – CCR

This is a fixed-term post for 18 months, starting in September/October 2026. You will be paid National Minimum Wage (Apprentice rates) dependent on your age.
 

We are looking for an individual with a desire to work in a carbon and sustainability environment, who is enthusiastic and eager to learn, with a commitment to contributing positively to the team.

As an apprentice, you’ll learn from experienced colleagues who are committed to helping you grow. You will gain job‑specific skills whilst working towards the Level 3 Diploma in Energy & Carbon Management, earning a wage and building a career path that suits you.

Entry requirements include 5 GCSE’s at A-C grade including Maths, English or a willingness to undertake additional key skills as part of your apprenticeship.
